Try our Brussels city Tour! The fine historical city of Brussels (locally called ‘Brussel’ or Bruxelles, because this official capital of Europe is a bilingual city) has a lot to offer.
The centre is best enjoyed on foot. With its magnificent ‘Big Market’ square, lined with 17th century Guild mansions
Here you also find the bronze statue of the patrician Everaard t’Serclaes (murdered in 1388), rubbed smooth by millions of hands, because touching it brings good fortune.
And of course the statuette fountain of ‘Manneken Pis’, a little boy symbolising the Belgian resistance, urinating on invading armies.
From there, it is just a small step to a wonderful Belgian beer, to be enjoyed in the multitude of ‘stamminees’, dark, cavernous bars where you feel time has been standing still for ages!
Brussels is also famous for its ‘Atomium‘, a building in the shape of an enormous iron molecule built for the world exhibition of 1958. It consists of 10 spheres, of which five are included in the visit.
The top sphere at 92 metres houses a restaurant and offers a panoramic view over Brussels. On a clear day, you can even see Antwerp! The Atomium is situated in a park a bit on the edge of Brussels, but your private driver will gladly bring you there.
And while you’re at it, why not stop off at the Mini Europa Park at the foot of the Atomium. Here you can see 300 famous European attractions in one visit, albeit on a scale of 1 to 25.
